Being a diabetic in Zimbabwe is a matter of surviving on a daily basis. There is a shortage of basic items for diabetics who need to inject themselves on a daily basis. Should one have to reuse the same needle. There is a risk of infection. The medication is expensive and it is difficult to find needles and insulin. If you have to check your sugar levels its either you attend local community clinics and pay a $ to have it checked but with current economic situation three dollars a day for one can be extremely expensive. If you have a bm machine at home then there is the issues of not being able to find the strips when they run out.
