Within a relatively short period of time, prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has established one of the biggest Pentecostal churches in Zimbabwe, United Family International Ministries (UFIM). Originally a young pastor of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM), he founded the new movement in the years 2008-2010. His controversial public healing sessions and prophecies have won him both supporters and critics. Makandiwa is increasing his influence in Zimbabwean society through a series of media-related acquisitions and expansion of church property to Chitungwiza, one of the most densely populated parts of the country.
Who is this man, what makes him tick. Is he real or fake!!!

HARARE - United Family International Church (UFIC) founder Emmanuel Makandiwa owns a controlling stake in Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed Radar Holdings (Private) Limited (Radar) among other multi-million dollar businesses.
The popular prophet, who believes in the doctrine of hard work and servant leadership modelled along biblical greats such as King David, also owns a raft of businesses, including agricultural concerns.
As details of his private life emerge, the charismatic preacher who draws up to 50 000 congregants at his church services per week, also owns a huge stake in entertainment giant, Sterkinekor’s franchise locally and in Zambia.
Such is the man’s riches that Makandiwa is building a multi-million dollar house in Glen Lorne, which has often been mistaken for a hotel.
Prime Kufa, the UFIC leader’s spokesperson, confirmed to the Daily News that indeed his boss was building a mansion touted as a “mission house for foreign dignitaries and visitors”.
He however, did not rule out the possibility that Makandiwa might end up using one of the wings to the mansion as his house.
Said Kufa: “Yes, there is a building project underway in Glen Lorne and I can tell you it is not a hotel or boutique as reported earlier but it is a mission house to cater for our VIP guests who visit us.”
Kufa, who was flanked by UFIC finance director Elias Hwenga, told the Daily News that the ministry’s free-to-air television channel has resulted in a lot of international visitors coming into the country and some of those visitors, especially pastors, may want to have a place where they can interact with Makandiwa at the mission house.
Incidentally, Hwenga is also the Radar managing director, according to a 2013 Central African Stock Exchanges handbook.
Kufa said the project “was not a business venture but Makandiwa is using his personal funds in the project”.
There have been allegations that Makandiwa could be using church funds to live a wealthy lifestyle where he can afford to build a huge mansion and drive top-of-the-range vehicles, but Kufa insisted that Makandiwa gets money from his huge businesses.
“When people hear that the man of God is doing A, B, C or D, all what comes to their minds is that there are church funds involved.
“If that was the case, how is it possible that the man of God is our biggest benefactor and the ministry owes him a lot of money?
“In that respect, we feel that as sons, we have also let him down by not divulging some of the man of God’s sources to the public domain.
“He is a man who believes his private life is just that — private!
“Even UFIC members do not even know some of the information we will give you here. He is never one to go out and brag about what he owns and I am sure all of you in the media can testify to that.
This is why no one has ever been able to interview him as he always maintains that it is not about Makandiwa but about Jesus.”
“But we being close to him ought to have pierced part of that veil which makes the man a mystery and told the world the other side of Makandiwa that they do not know,” said Kufa.
Makandiwa’s spokesperson added that his boss is also undertaking other business projects locally and internationally.
“These are not just claims but information that can be accessed as it is available in the public domain. “That has always been his philosophy from long back and I remember him quoting for me from Acts 20:33-34,” he said: “I coveted no man’s silver or gold or costly garments. You yourselves know personally that these hands ministered to my own needs and those of the persons who were with me” (AMP) as he was teaching me why I should embark on projects as a pastor,” Kufa added.
The spokesperson said it is folly for people to think that Makandiwa could single-handedly build a 30 000-seater church, look after nearly 2 000 orphans, 300-plus widows and be constantly donating houses with his only source of income being the church.
“He has never come knocking on the doors of the finance office in search of money ever since but has actually helped the church to pay its bills.
“I cannot speak for him during his tenure at the Apostolic Faith Mission, as I was not part of his congregation but ever since the establishment of UFIC, we have never seen that,” said Kufa.
“He is one that believes in financial integrity to the effect that he invites all those members that wish to have a look into our finances to freely do so and many can bear witness to the financial prudence that prevails in the organisation.”
The close Makandiwa aide said “people ought to be fair to the man and not criticise him just because they do not understand him”.
“If what he is doing for the church and community at large is not enough to qualify him to live the life that he lives, I do not know what will.
“For example if he has bought his assistants and pastors Mercedes Benz vehicles, given out more than 400 cars, is it too much if he drives a Mercedes Benz himself.
“Show me a man that is doing more for his community and I will gladly pledge to be praying for him every day of my life.”

Fetish priests, also associated with traditional healers and black magic, perform rituals to consult and seek the favor of the god of a shrine. Payment is usually given in money, liquor, animals, jewellery and in some places, with human sex slaves. The priest is also chosen through "spiritual nomination of the shrine" through divination. "People in Zimbabwe are being bamboozled and taken for a ride by Makandiwa," said Ajoba. "We hear he was given occultic charms and power, to perform bizzare miracles and make his church grow, and because the whole thing is evil and spiritual one cannot present tangibile evidence, that is why false prophets get away with it. We thank God, because time will always act as a revealer. In the case of Makandiwa, those who join his church are blinded and will find it difficult to leave, because their spirits have been trapped. Usually people who do this, bring coffins inside the church with real dead bodies, but the simple human eye cannot see them, because it is devilish. Churches of this nature can have up to three coffins, displayed inside at every corner, and they remain there as powers are renewed. In reality ritual killing would have occurred. Only through the Holy Spirit's special gifts can one's eyes be opened to see into the mysterious supernatural realm. It is only God who reveals secrets, and we believe, the time is up for fake prophets in Africa." Ajoba said, Zimbabwe and Ghana have something special to share because Mugabe had stayed in Ghana during his exile years, and had also married "our daughter". "This is the bond we share until today. So we want to have a talk with the president, and implore him to rid the country of dangerous churches belonging to the synagogue of satan. Your country is the land of the Holy Spirit, that is why everyone in Africa is envious, because you are your own masters. The other hallmarks of fake prophets is that, they do not built churches, but instead pitch tents forever or hire public halls, since their operations are short-lived. These con man are also into business. How can you serve two masters at once if you have a genuine calling? Above all they do not preach about the second coming of Jesus Christ, the endtimes or New Jerusalem. So Makandiwa is definately in trouble." As if to confirm Ajoba's assertion, UFIC only has mostly luxurious offices in the capital but no permanent church buildings, despite the ministry sitting on millions of dollars allegedly fleeced from followers insiders said. The ministry only has one church in Chitungwiza, which is wrought in controversy. The Telescope News has also been told by the West African pastors, that two of their members have also received visions on the passing away of Grace Mugabe, confirming a story that we ran a fortnight ago. An increasingly popular Zimbabwean minister based in Germany, who prefers annonymity was the first to foretell the prophesy in late 2013. The President's Office in Harare, is said to be in limbo over the prophesy, at a time when Mugabe's enemies are wishing him death citing his old age and failing health. The Zimbabwean minister has since made written communication and telephone calls to the President's Office emphasising the gravity of the matter. "Makandiwa's followers are going to be shocked when Grace Mugabe dies," said the pastors. "Your paper actually carried this story, and when the prophesy is fulfilled the President can have grounds to shut down UFIC, and even have the leadership arrested, this is what we want to see. You cannot have a situation where so called major prophets in Zimbabwe miss such an important prophesy. Time is not on their side, and we known some have actually skipped the country." Some of the crookish prophets said to be planning to run away from Zimbabwe, include Makandiwa's sidekick, one Uebert Mudzanire or Uebert Angel who has indicated that he is to take to his feet, going to the United Kingdom in March. Mudzanire has also been allegedly linked to Kwaku Bonsam, and he shares the same "spiritual" father with Makandiwa. The duo have set Zimbabwe ablaze with all sorts of "lying miracles" said Ajoba breathing fire and brimestone.

Prophet Makandiwa unveils miracle anointing oil
Emmanuel Makandiwa has launched miracle-working anointing oil to prepare his United Family International Church (UFIC) members for the glorious economic era that he predicted for Zimbabwe on Saturday.
The celebrity preacher told the multitudes that turned up at the Glamis Arena in Harare for the "Resurrection Service" on Sunday that God had finally given him the green light to launch the "glorious oil" after waiting for four years.
Makandiwa earlier prophesied at the National Sports Stadium during a prayer session dubbed "Judgement Night 2" that Zimbabwe was poised for massive economic growth that will significantly change the lives of many.
He explained during the "resurrection service" that he wanted his congregants to be the first beneficiaries of the economic boom.
The popular prophet said the oil would bring glory that is supposed to accompany the Easter resurrection of Jesus Christ to his followers.
He, however, did not say if the oil would be sold, but urged congregants to be more prayerful before getting the anointing oil which he said was so powerful that it would deal with all economic problems bedevilling the society as well as render "all other oils given elsewhere useless."
"This one will cause a lot of noise," Makandiwa said.
"It will cause chaos. You will be the first to enjoy the fruits of the glory that is coming. Nobody will outrun you and by the time they arrive (for the economic benefits), you will be enjoying already.
"I could not have launched it last night because it would have benefitted outsiders when the children of God have not."
The charismatic preacher said the anointing oil was a fulfilment of a vision that he saw some four years ago which was in the form of a flourishing field of green crops.
"It was very good and I wanted to see it happen the following day but when I wanted to harvest, God told me it was not mature," he said.
"Thank God, recently, he said now the time is ripe, the vision has matured," he said before warning cameramen not to zoom their lenses on the bottles of the anointing oil.
Makandiwa said unlike other oils, his could not be counterfeited as it had God's presence.
In the early hours of Sunday morning at the National Sports Stadium, Makandiwa had predicted that the country's ailing industries would rebound, with the capital city, Harare, providing 24-hour shopping services.
The popular preacher went on to personally collect money for Sunday offering claiming that contrary to popular belief that church leaders were fleecing ordinary people by making them give monitory gifts after church service, God had told him that there was nothing wrong and that he should go ahead and collect.
He ordered congregants to queue up as they dropped their offerings in front of him.
"I will be the last to leave this place so I want you to show the world that you can part with everything that you have for God. Starting with foreigners, you will drop your gift on the altar, with the locals following," Makandiwa directed his followers.
His much-hyped Judgement Night 2 also created a furore among some sections of the Christian community who said his prophecies were "a misrepresentation of Biblical facts".
